Anna Maria Higher education announced Monday that it is launching a varsity esports staff that will contend in the collegiate convention and on the nationwide degree starting in its drop semester.
The move expands the aim on esports and gaming in the Worcester area.
The Massachusetts Digital Games Institute — a statewide heart for academic cooperation, entrepreneurship and economic enhancement within just Massachusetts’ online video sport ecosystem, moved to Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2021 just after the closure of Becker College.
The shuttered higher education was known for its game design and style software. It was the 1st university in the state to offer an esports management diploma and the to start with in the state to provide varsity esports scholarships.
