Boy Dies Throughout Preseason Soccer Exercise session in Newark’s West Ward

A heartbroken household and the group are in search of solutions after a 12-yr-aged boy collapsed and died in the course of a preseason soccer training inside of an Essex County Park on the evening of Friday, February 10. 

The 6th grade Rise Academy Constitution University college student, identified as Elijah Jordan Brown-Garcia, participated in “light football apply and conditioning drills” moments just before he collapsed on the West Aspect Park football industry close to 5:40 p.m., his mother, Raven Brown, told RLS Media. 

“He was not tackled or struck for the duration of the practice session, but he was supervised by numerous persons who did not know CPR, so Elijah laid on the ground for about 40 minutes devoid of getting the daily life-preserving clinical process to resuscitate him”, Brown explained. 

According to Raven Brown, her other son, Mekhi, also attended the exercise session for the Essex County Predators, a staff owned by “Major 21” of Bloomfield, NJ.

While the more youthful son could not totally remember all of the functions top to Elijah’s collapse, he claimed he evidently remembered speaking to his brother just just before he collapsed.

Former Broncos star Demaryius Thomas dies at 33; Pro Bowl wide receiver helped Denver win Super Bowl title

The NFL community lost one of its top players of the 2010s on Thursday, as former Broncos star Demaryius Thomas was found dead in his home at the age of 33, according to a Roswell, Georgia, police report obtained by the Washington Post. Police say preliminary information suggests Thomas’ death stemmed from a medical issue.

LaTonya Bonseigneur, a first cousin who grew up with Thomas, told the Associated Press the family believes he died from a seizure.

Family members were reportedly notified by the Roswell police at about 9 p.m. ET that they had found Thomas in a shower at his home.

“He had been suffering from seizures for over a year, and we believe he had a seizure when he was showering,” Bonseigneur said early Friday. “We’re not sure when he died. We just spoke with him yesterday.”

She added, “He was alone and a friend couldn’t get hold of him, so he called his driver, who has a key because of these seizures, and he went into his home and found him in the shower.”

“The NFL family mourns the tragic loss of Demaryius Thomas and we extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones,” the NFL released in a statement.

Thomas, who last played in 2019, had only officially announced his retirement this June. He finished his 10-year career as one of the most productive wide receivers of his time, most notably as a five-time Pro Bowler and the No. 1 pass-catcher for Denver’s 2015 Super Bowl championship team.

Michael Johnson, son of Ernie Johnson, dies at 33

Rival TV networks showed their respect and affection Saturday night for Turner Sports broadcaster Ernie Johnson.

ESPN and Fox aired primetime tributes to Johnson’s son Michael, who died Friday at the age of 33 after a lifelong struggle with muscular dystrophy. ESPN’s Chris Fowler spoke over a video montage during the network’s broadcast of the Penn State-Ohio State football game. Fox Sports’ Kevin Burkhardt did likewise during the pregame show for Game 4 of the World Series.

“Our family is so grateful for your kindness and compassion,” Johnson wrote in a quote tweet of the Fox video.

Ernie Johnson used the word “miraculous” to describe his son’s life when he wrote on Instagram that Michael had died. Many MD sufferers don’t live past their teens.

In August, Ernie Johnson told his son’s story to the Alabama football team. Video of it went viral on social media. He held up Michael — who was born in Romania and adopted by Johnson and his wife, Cheryl, as a toddler in 1991 — as a reminder that “there’s value in everybody.”

In one of the most emotional parts of his speech, Ernie Johnson recounted how Michael inspired his Georgia high school, Mill Creek, through basketball and his trademark phrase, “Love you, too.”

The boys team’s coach, Phil Bollier, wanted Michael to be a part of the program he was building from scratch after speaking with him in a special needs class. Bollier explained why to Ernie and Cheryl.
